The Swedish Institute has provided 2-year funding for the EDC project to transform Ukraine's democratic future. 

The aim is to develop an educational program on civic education for key Ukrainian stakeholders, identified based on the Implementation Plan of the Concept for the Development of Civic Education in Ukraine until 2030.

 The project focuses on strengthening democratic citizenship in Ukraine by learning about how to promote and protect the institutionalisation of democratic governance, but also how to empower democratic citizens in the civil society. 


The key stakeholders are:

  • University lecturers
  • Representatives of local government bodies from united territorial communities
  • Leaders and active members of non-governmental organizations 
  • Employees of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine 

 
The project involves European experts from Linnaeus University (Sweden), the University of Murcia (Spain), Jagiellonian University (Poland), as well as Ukrainian experts: Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, the Institute of Social and Political Psychology of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, the School of Governance of the Ostroh Academy, and the Association of Political Psychologists of Ukraine. 


April 30 marked the end of the application period for university lecturers to participate in the EDC project training course.


On May 1, the application period opened for  Representatives of local government bodies from united territorial communities .

 Educational program 

 

The program is developed in the form of four courses, specifically tailored for each target group. The training program covers a total of 80 hours of study: 

  • 40 hours of in-person sessions in Krakow 
  • 40 hours of online sessions.


The program consists of three modules: 
Program Module 1 – Good Governance and Democratic Institutions, 
Program Module 2 – Democratic Culture, Civic Identity, and Engagement, 
Program Module 3 – EU Governance and European Citizenship.


The language of instruction by European experts is English, with simultaneous translation.
